If you're here for the first time, or a returning visitor, please know I'm glad you are here. Recent updates include two posts to this page, and one post to the 10,000 Reasons tab. We were recently very blessed to spend some time visiting a friend's farm. We got to meet horses, goats, chickens, a great big giant dog, a little cuddly dog, birds, and cows. The boys got to ride a horse for the first time. It was exciting! Here they are, riding with their friend's grandma: We even got to take a tractor ride! The boys enjoyed spending time with their friends in the chicken coop. They even found a few eggs! On the way home, Ashton told us that they took an egg from a chicken, and had to run out of the room because the rooster was coming. He said that the chicken was the rooster's wife. How cute is that?! I asked him how he knew it was the rooster's wife, and he said, "Because he gave her an egg." Aww! Chicken love! Here are some of Ashton's chicken photos: We had a great time meeting farm animals, roasting marshmallows,
and spending time with our sweet friends, creating memories we'll surely remember for a long time to come.

Ready, set, go! Here is a photo of Ashton's March bulletin board. The leprechaun's basket says, "What's worth more than gold?" The clovers say "kindness, Jesus and God, self control, joy and obedience." And here is a photo of Bryce's March bulletin board. We made some rainbow collages too. We recently finished planning our 2015 family trip. Mr. Mustard Seed made this bulletin board. It has as calendar, maps and other fun trip information. The boys enjoy looking at it- we can't wait to get on the road! The boys recently mailed photos to Lego Club magazine. We're really hoping they'll get published. They also created some St. Patrick's Day art, which we mailed off today. Ashton got his mail-art on- check it out! Another random project: And lastly, we made some homemade baked donuts. We visited our favorite "sprinkle" store, and the boys each picked out a bunch of fun sprinkles. The donuts are easy to make, super delicious, and really really fun! I love cooking with my boys. We continue working on our Heritage History studies,
math, language arts and reading. We recently realized we've been doing 3rd grade math, so we're slowing down a bit, and are taking some time to focus strictly on math facts. Ashton is close to finishing his first "big" chapter book- Jimmy Skunk by Thornton Burgess. We recently finished our first chapter read aloud, Mr. Popper's Penguins. The boys seemed to enjoy it. We rented the movie from the library, and it was a complete disappointment. In the book, the Popper's were poor and ate a lot of beans. In the movie, they were divorced (what?!) and rich. In the book, the dad was obsessed with the Antarctic. In the movie, he wasn't. At all. Etc etc etc. We had the movie on for about 10 minutes and turned it off. We've since finished reading about Flat Stanley's adventure to Mt. Rushmore, and will soon begin Grasshopper Summer. Do you read aloud with your children? If so, what are you currently reading? Do you have any good recommendations of books that have been made into movies that are actually good?! Tell me what's on your family reading list! |
