Sylvan Lake, the Cabin and Crazy Horse
I'm excited to share part 4 of our vacation with you.
I still have Part 5 (Wildlife Loop Road, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road)
and Part 6 (the Badlands) to share with you.
But hey, we're getting there, right?!
I hope you've been enjoying the journey!
South Dakota is a really fun state;
hopefully your family can vaca there someday, too.
So, today I get to share Sylvan Lake, the cabin, and Crazy Horse!
Sylvan Lake can be summed up with one word: Beautiful!
When I was little, my family camped there,
so it was neat to experience it again with my own family.
By the time we got the the lake, it was evening,
and we were losing daylight,
but we were still able to do a bit of exploring!
Somewhere along our way to Sylvan Lake,
we passed by this random place so appropriately called, "Hole in the Wall."
I love random places like this!
Below, you can see our photos from Crazy Horse.
We would probably not visit Crazy Horse in the future.
First of all, it's double the price of Mount Rushmore.
Secondly, you can get basically the same view from the street for free.
If you wanna get up close and personal, you can pay $125 / person.
Below you can see the viewing deck view (left) and parking lot view (right).
The street view is basically the same.
I regret that I did not take more photos of the cabin we stayed at.
It was a beautiful place-
the boys enjoyed their loft upstairs.
Their stuffed animals enjoyed sliding down the railing.
There was a creek in the backyard with a little old bridge.
There was also a super steep hill near the creek that Mr. Mustard Seed wanted to climb,
We originally planned to spend 5 nights at the cabin,
but the forecast was calling for 2 feet of snow, so we had to leave after 2 nights.
One night a deer paid us a visit, which was neat!
I've got a lot more fun animal photos to share next time!
